Transportation is the source of over 50% of Charlottetown’s GHG emissions. As such, reducing GHG emissions from transportation represents an essential component of climate mitigation work. Currently, approximately 84% of trips in Charlottetown take place by car. Of those trips, 73% are shorter than 5km, which is less than a 15-minute bike ride at a comfortable speed while 44% are shorter than 3km, a 30-minute walk.
