6.3 Reduce emissions from private vehicles and City fleet and de-incentivize the use of private vehicles by single occupants

The implementation of the Goals and Actions under this theme will contribute to completing the following targets set by the Province of PEI’s 2040 Net Zero Framework:

• Reduction in emissions from transportation 25-30% by 2030 and 55-65% by 2040
• Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) account for >60% of PEI’s registered passenger vehicles by 2040
• ZEVs account for 100% of light duty car dealership sales by 2035
• 40% (or more) of registered medium and heavy-duty vehicles are zero-emission by 2040.
