Rooted in Art is a celebration of Charlottetown trees. The Rooted in Art initiative began in 2020 as a self-guided walking tour of art installations in City trees. It was a collaborative effort between the City's Environment and Sustainability Department and local artists, encouraging the community to experience nature in a new way and reflect on the importance of Charlottetown's urban forest.
In 2026, Rooted in Art has been reimagined as a live, nature-inspired outdoor art competition. On September 12, eight artists will create original works inspired by the trees of Victoria Park, using a medium of their choice. Community members are invited to watch the creative process unfold and celebrate the beauty and value of Charlottetown's urban forest through art.
