This statistic tracks the total number of kilometres of cycling (or multi-use) lanes and paths, so long as those paths are consistent with the new technical safety standards ('Facility Selection Thresholds') established in the 2025 Active Transportation Plan for the City.
This includes on-road bike lanes, separated multi-use paths (alongside a road), and trails. A multi-use path or trail means a path that is designed for use by both cyclists and pedestrians.
This statistic does not inlude cycling facilities installed prior to 2025, if they are not compliant with the newly-established Facility Selection Thresholds. In 2025, the City had 27.52km of on-road bike lanes that do not meet these Thresholds, and which will be upgraded over the course of implementing the Active Transportation Plan.
This statistic does not include pedestrian-only sidewalks (which are also an important form of Active Transportation), of which the City had 187.59km in 2025. The Active Transportation Plan recommends achieving 239km of sidewalks by 2040.
